Sustainable Waterfront Mega-Complex & Marine Engineering

The Challenge

Located right on the Mediterranean shoreline, this massive sports complex required deep excavation below the water table, complex subterranean waterproofing, and heavy integration of green building technologies to combat intense marine humidity and salt corrosion.

Our Approach

• Marine Waterproofing: Implemented advanced bentonite tanking systems and specialized sulfate-resistant concrete mixes to permanently protect the underground aquatic facilities and gymnasiums from seawater intrusion.
• Eco-Roof & Natural Ventilation: Constructed expansive green roofs and engineered a unique building orientation that harnesses coastal winds, significantly reducing the facility’s mechanical cooling loads.
• Premium Sports Surfaces: Coordinated the precision installation of Olympic-standard indoor flooring, professional acoustics for the swimming arena, and high-durability outdoor track materials.
