Advanced Wet Labs & Specialized Waste Systems
The Challenge
The Science Lecture Hall (SLH) Biology Building project involved constructing complex biology wet laboratories, requiring heavy-duty chemical waste neutralization systems and precise air-handling operations to handle volatile substances safely.
Our Approach
- Chemical Drainage: Installed specialized chemical-resistant polypropylene piping and dedicated pH neutralization tanks to handle laboratory wastewater safely before discharge.
- Fume Hood Ventilation: Integrated a complex manifold system for chemical fume hoods, utilizing variable air volume (VAV) controls to maintain safe air exchange rates.
- Vibration Mitigation: Engineered specialized structural floor slabs to isolate sensitive laboratory microscopes and weighing equipment from building and campus traffic vibrations.
The Outcome
A highly secure, scientifically optimized environment that safeguards student health while providing advanced capabilities for biological research.
