The Challenge
As the historic heart of the campus, this high-profile project required rebuilding and reinforcing a landmark structure to withstand modern seismic activity while perfectly preserving its defining heritage stonework, iconic clock tower elements, and traditional facade.
Our Approach
- Seismic Reinforcement: Integrated a hidden structural steel skeleton and concrete shear walls within the building’s core to anchor it against seismic events.
- Stone Salvage & Masonry: Hand-selected and matched local limestone, using traditional masonry techniques to seamlessly blend restored historic exterior walls with the new structural additions.
- Iconic Features Preservation: Worked alongside specialized artisans to rebuild and secure the building’s traditional rooflines, windows, and decorative architectural trim.
The Outcome
A triumphant restoration of the university’s premier symbolic landmark, blending uncompromised modern structural safety with rich historical heritage.
